Eastern Promises - End Credits

Cuppa Coffee was recently enlisted by David Cronenberg to provide the title sequence for Eastern Promises. This marks the third time the two parties have collaborated, with Cuppa Coffee previously providing credits for Cronenberg's eXistenZ and Spider. The typographic credits are presented along with large black and white photographs of body parts adorned with iconic Russian criminal tattoos. Inspired by the meditative final scene of the film, the slow and deliberate presentation of the tattoo imagery creates a contemplative rhythm for the audience as they watch the visual epilogue unfold.

In this spot for Service Ontario, characters pop up out of a paper birth certificate and journey through life. The government-issued cards were blown up and a massive set was designed to scale. It took three weeks to shoot the 30 second commercial, utilizing over 1,700 cut outs.
